Description
Feature request: Add new types of checkpoints/strongpoints for different kind of strategic locations.
Expected behavior:
New types of static points, such as bridgehead control points, fuel station fortifications, river/inlet checkpoints, town headquarters, medical posts, heli refuel points can increase the map capture zone variety, as well as more believable map control of the factions.
Implementation details:
- Bridgehead control points: Bridges are strategic points in controlling movement between different zones usually. A moderate garrison with a couple static AP/AT weapons and some fortifications is very much needed. This can be a permanent map marker that can change sides.
- Fuel station fortifications: Occupants/Invaders should value the control of these fuel locations, and can put a couple squads and/or snipers at these locations to deter rebel use. Can be cleaned by the rebels and re-formed by enemies, but not taken by player faction (unless via emplacements, of course)
- River/Inlet checkpoints: Similar to Fuel station fortifications due to lack of enemy naval activity for player to use, but maybe with a static MG nest.
- Town headquarters: Similar to AU's Military Administrations, but on specific high ground/estate kind of positions at towns or at the edge of bigger cities. This should have strong defense capabilities such as static AP/AT/AA turrets. Should be used in towns where it is worth to have such a garrison but no nearby outpost or military base.
- Medical posts: Low defense capability and preferably protected by other markers, but to incur high aggression and other possible unsavory outcomes. Bad target choice for players.
- Heli refuel points: Small, unmarked, light/transport helicopter spawn points. More sense in using near some strategic outposts (not military bases), or in remote/hidden areas. May require rare heli landing/take off/patrol scripts to feel reasonable.
