On Windows 7 and above, please use the following instructions. We are assuming from a vanilla Windows installation so your mileage may vary depending on things you already have installed. If you find conflicts, please let us know via a GitHub Issue

###Prerequisites:

  1. Uninstall old versions of node.js (version 0.12 etc) - we are going to need a clean install of Node 4 LTS
  2. Download and install Node.js version Node 6.x LTS from https://nodejs.org/en/download/
  3. Install Google Chrome if not already installed
  4. Download and install Git For Windows from https://git-scm.com/download/win
  5. Upgrade your Smoothie based controller to the edge build of the firmware (firmware-cnc.bin). This is NB - LaserWeb wont work with old builds.

###LaserWeb install instructions:

  1. Start a windows command prompt by typing "cmd" in windows search
  2. Type: cd \
  3. Type "git clone https://github.com/openhardwarecoza/LaserWeb3.git"
  4. Type "cd LaserWeb3"
  5. Type "npm install" (note we test on SerialPort v3.1.2 - if you have issues make sure that you use the same

The software is now installed.

###To start the software:

  1. Start a windows command prompt by typing "cmd" in windows search
  2. In the command prompt window type "cd \laserweb3" at the command prompt
  3. In the command prompt window type "node server.js"

Note: Marlin not implemented yet! Only Smoothie and Grbl. TinyG will be next.

  1. Start Google Chrome
  2. At the top of the Chrome window type "localhost:8000" in the web address bar

Note: Node.js will ask you to grant it access the first time you run the server

You should now see the software in the Chrome browser window.
