Are these bins Gridfinity 'compliant'?

The design doc from Zack Freedman shows 1U being 7mm and a base and one unit combined to equal 2U. I would have expected a 3U bin to measure 21mm + 4.4mm for the stackable lip from base to top but these measure 24.8mm.

There is a 0.6mm discrepancy.

I am designing my own Gridfinity trays using this Fusion plugin but also printing other peoples designs and my 3U tray does not match height on other 3U bins I have downloaded and printed.

I've been struggling with this too. The lip height doesn't seem correct. I wish it was an adjustable input. Because of this bins that are solid stack higher than bins that are shelled or hollow.

If you update the BIN_LIP_EXTRA_HEIGHT constant or the 'simple box at point extrude' in fusion to 0.5 then you end up with the correct dimensions for the lip height. The inside of the stacking lip is still wrong but its better than nothing.

The specs define the lip as 4.4mm but the generator creates a 3.8mm lip height. I doubt this is going to be fixed, last commit to the project was 2 years ago.

I did see that but it's a break fix. The code needs to be corrected.

Doing it this way removes most of the 'flat' from the top surface but yes, the vertical dimension are now correct. I'll have a closer look at the code and submit a pull request, not that any of the pull requests are being merged. As I said, I think this project is abandoned.

After dealing with issue for a long time, I finally decided to fix the dimension issues in this project, and I am almost done. Here is the current menu and generated results

One thing that I discovered, is a difference in the interpretation of what the "Bin height" means in the Config Menu
There are two thoughts on what is should be.

1. Bin height means the internal "units" of the bin only. (what the config menu does)
2. Bin height means the internal "units" PLUS the base unit. (Aligns with the specification)

You can see then a 3 U bin could be interpreted as (7mm * 3 U) = 21 mm for option 1 or (7mm * 3U + base) = 28 mm for option 2.
Then if the 4.4 mm stackable lip is placed a 3U would be either 25.4 or 32.4.

Also, there is the .5 mm radius on top of the stackable lip that is on some specs, but not on the one above. Zach's bins have that radius (see image below) and are not exactly at the expected heights.

So where is this at? The problem with these not exactly matching the spec is that bins from different projects don't align when stacked beside each other in drawers. This has resulted in a lot of wasted printing and time.

It's no wonder that these dimensions are whack. Look at the way the base is created.

The chamfered edge exceeds the bin side and is later trimmed. Nothing uses the profile dimensions, it's made up from blocks and trimmed to size.

I can't do any better myself, I tried to look through the code but didn't get far but there has to be a better way to build a generator.
