Describe the bug
Context
I am currently conducting an audit on bitcoin.org (see issue bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org#4662). As part of this maintenance effort, I have identified that the Ledger listings should be updated to reflect the current product lineup and security standards.
The Discrepancies
- Discontinued Model: The site still features the original Ledger Nano S. According to recent updates and technical limitations (320 KB memory cap), this device is no longer manufactured, sold, or receiving firmware/security updates as of Spring 2025.
- User Experience: New users visiting bitcoin.org are being directed to a legacy device that no longer supports modern applications or the latest security features, leading to a fragmented experience for the Bitcoin community.
- Missing Current Lineup: The newer generation devices (Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex, and Stax) are currently not listed.
The Problem
By keeping the original Nano S listed on a primary resource such as bitcoin.org, we are providing outdated information to the community. It directs newcomers toward a device with no future software support, which may create usability limitations and potential long-term security concerns.
Proposed Action
I have already submitted a Pull Request to the bitcoin.org repository to:
- Remove the legacy files and images for the original Ledger Nano S (PR #4665).
- Add (in a subsequent PR) the current Ledger lineup with updated technical specifications and higher-quality assets.
I’ve tagged @EricLarch in the original discussion on the bitcoin.org repository, but I’m opening this issue here as well to ensure the Ledger team is aware and has the opportunity to provide or review the official copy for the new listings to ensure brand accuracy.
