If you install Authme you can copy the executable anywhere you want, but the settings file will be stored on the device. If more people request this feature it might be implemented, or contributions are welcome.

Hi Levminer.

I have a few harebrained ideas regarding this life-saver of a little app you made. Thank you for making it.

It would however be amazing to be able to store it on removable storage and run it anywhere without having to configure it at every location.

To test, I have zeroed and restricted all extraneous files in the %LocalAppData%\com.levminer.authme directory and found that Authme.exe runs perfectly with only the following structure in tact:

• On Windows10 Authme.exe only practically uses a single Leveldb file, for all its data, located in %LocalAppData%\com.levminer.authme\EBWebView\Default\Local Storage\leveldb\000003.log
• Granted, I am running a very old WebView2 version: 92.0.902.67, but it runs Authme.exe perfectly from any location, including my preferred %LocalAppData%\com.levminer.authme\bin directory.
• It would be amazing if one could pass Authme.exe an argument on runtime to specify the custom location of the LevelDB file.
• I do not know if Tauri has such a portable/self-contained mechanism (i.e. light work) or if it'll have to be done via something like tauriless or some other trickery (i.e. perilous work).
• Since Authme is effectively only a web-app, it might even be more proficient to change its architecture away from Tauri and into a local micro/light httpd server, and can thus be browser-agnostic (and even perhaps OS agnostic?) henceforth.

So I second @azcguy's request. Authme should be portable!

Yes, ok.

• I exported from Authme for Windows and saved backup.authme to the / of an SD-card.
• I mirrored and gently coaxed the ./_app/* etc. files from https://authme.levminer.com/ onto the / of said SD-card
• I then dropped mongoose.exe and mongoose_linux binaries from mongoose web server into SD-card / as well.
• Now I can start mongoose.exe or mongoose_linux in SD-card / and load localhost:8000, in any web-browser, import backup.authme, and use my OTP keys on any machine without an Internet connection. Kill it with Ctrl+C + cookie wipe.
• This whole Portable Authme remix is < 700kB. Quick, small and dirty. Sneakernet for teh win.
