What does `Probe.contact_size` mean?

The docs just say "contact_size float: value of contact size as float", which is decidedly unhelpful.

Is it the diameter of each contact? Or the area? Or the radius? Or the length? What are the units? If it refers to the diameter or radius, what should users put for rectangular contacts?
