cant modify nwbfile because of admin permission reqirement

i need to modify my nwbfiles for upload to dandi, but i get this error. is there a way to modify my files? thanks.

• Is this file linked in an existing table, like Nwbfile or AnalysisNwbfile?
  • If so, I would describe this situation working as intended - a protection against a dangerous operation
  • If not, this is a bug, and we should be checking the file's status before gate-keeping the rest of the function
• What does the _dandi suffix in the file represent?
  • Ideally, I would like to see all spyglass files be dandi-compliant. That's a long road with a moving target, but we can try

Ok, I think we can fix this function to allow you to use it on a non-Spyglass file

Is there a reason not put it in the tables? Does Spyglass not support this kind of file?

thanks! the original nwbfile has been inserted in spyglass, but because it was generated 2 years ago, it needs to be modified for upload to DANDI. i make a copy so i don't change the file that is already in spyglass. i plan to delete the modified file after upload.

I think the goal if this feature it to be able to modify the existing version, without the need to make a copy. Did you try that route and hit other roadblocks?

I didn't try that for these files. I will try that in the future. I already ran some code to convert the position data to be dandi friendly which took a few days of compute for these files, so it would be great if i could modify the metadata for these files.
