Update from 4.4.0

Hello, I have been using version 4.4.0 for quite some time. Now I would like to update to the current version 6.10.4.

Does it work as described?

"This update will be the one you have to use if you are following the Release channel.

• Download the newest version.
• Replace all existing files, excluding public/uploads/, public/dist/user.css and .env (and database/database.sqlite if using SQLite as your database).
• Go to the Diagnostic page and click on the Apply migration button."

Or is there anything else I need to bear in mind? I don't want to lose my numerous galleries.

Hi!

1. First I would suggest do a backup of your database and upload folder (you never know).
2. Then do update remove the app and vendor folder completely, otherwise you will have some left-overs files which will be conflicting (hence replace not overwrite etc).
3. Then you won't even need to go to the diagnostic page, you will be presented with a migration required page (which you can run).

Ideally the best way to run the migration would be via command line : php artisan migrate. You can try via the web interface but CLI will likely yield better results.

Note that the recommended way to run Lychee is now docker. I would strongly suggest you have a look in that direction, it makes maintenance significantly faster and easier. :)
