Automatic1111: upscale models not found after rfinstalling

Due to a number of issues and the lack of an explicit reinstall option, I had to delete Automatic1111 from StabilityMatrix and then install the package again. The reinstallation didn't go smoothly at all (crashes of the browser and the whole Windows system needed an emergency reboot), but eventually the package started to work somehow. Since all the extensions that had been installed under Auto1111 are all gone, I can't use the package fully as before, it might take a while to restore it to the previous state. Worse yet, I can no longer upscale images in Extras, since webui seems to be unable to locate model folders. This is not indicated in the UI itself in any way, as all the models are - sort of - present in Extras and can be selected, and the upscale operation seems to succeed every time. However, the upscale output is always the same, no matter which upscale model is chosen. In the console output, I found multiple error messages accompanying each upscale operation telling that the system could not locate either the model folder or some key file, and as far as I could understand, it used some default/substitute upscale model every time, without returning an error in the UI.

I think StabilityMatrix needs more work in this particular case of a package removal and installation anew. In the meantime, can someone suggest what I can do to make Automatic1111 find the upscale models? (I browsed the SM folder tree and saw that all the files remain in their folders as before)
