I think you answer your question yourself. The mod uses file formats that are exclusive to RBDoom3BFG. |

I downloaded an older version - Doom BFA 1.3.2 Doom BFA 1.4.0 - from a folder with hundreds of HD textures, creates bimage files for less than 5% of all textures. And those that it does create look corrupted and mesh-like in-game. Doom BFA 1.3.2 - creates bimage files for all HD textures. But the resulting bimage files also look broken. In-game, they also look like they have noise applied to them. I even opened the resulting bimage files with a simple bimage viewer. It also shows that these textures are broken. The original bimage files for normal maps look like uniform green textures, but the ones created by Doom BFA look like a mess of square noise on top of the textures. Even the regular diffuse textures also look distorted and noisy. And no, this isn't a problem with the bimage file viewer. In the game itself, the bimage files generated by Doom BFA as wall textures also look broken. Typical results of how Doom BFA created its bimage textures from jpg and TGA HD texture files: Typical bimage files created by Doom BFA (when opened separately): What I did: Downloaded the Ultimate HD mod for Doom 3 (2004), unpacked the contents of the .pk4 files, and placed them in the "unpack" folder inside DOOM 3 BFG Edition. Launched Doom BFA with the following parameters: DoomBFA.exe +set fs_game unpack +seta com_allowconsole 1 bimage files examples taken from Preview pictures made with Conclusion: Doom bfa creates broken bimage files. |

I tried to run the mod https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-bfg-ultimate/downloads/doom3-bfg-ultimatehd-v21-full
on Doom bfa, but nothing happens when I run it. If you run this mod through Rbdoom3bfg, it starts binarising and there is a generated folder with lots of bimage files. And Doom bfa at startup does nothing. It does not create bimage and does not load the original tga or jpg images. Checked the same thing on the mod
https://www.moddb.com/mods/d3hdp-doom-3-essential-hd-pack/downloads/d3hdp-doom-3-essential-hd-pack-v20
If you unpack the textures and materials folders from pk4 files of this mod and throw as a mod in RbDoom3bfg, run it with the command +set fs_game mod_name, it starts binarising, after which hd textures on the maps are displayed. Because bimage files are created.
If you throw a folder with unpacked tga and jpg textures (and a folder with materials too), then Doom bfa still does nothing. It doesn't load the unpacked images and doesn't try to make bimage from them. So it should be? The only mod for Hd textures that works in Doom bfa is the mod
https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-bfg-hi-def/downloads/doom-3-bfg-hi-def-40-full-release.
But there all textures are already converted to bimage and packed in resources. How then to make other mods with textures work in Doom bfa?
The hi-def mod is terrible. It's got ugly blurry textures, clearly made through esrgan neural net. The d3hdp mod is the highest quality, but doesn't work in Doom bfa. I tried to get bimage files through rbdoom3bfg, then slip the resulting folder to the Doom bfa port, but there are some artefacts instead of textures. Looks like Rbdoom3bfg when creating bimage files uses not the standard bimage format, but its updated version. According to the hex dumps, there's some bim 11, while in the regular Doom 3 bfg, it's bim 10.
I still haven't figured out how to get this mod to work on Doom BFA...
