Steam Cloud Support?

Hi,

In October of last year Doom 3 BFG got steam cloud support for configs and save files.

Could this port be made to support this feature?

I noticed that BFA's save files are stored in "%userprofile%\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM BFA" and the original cloud supported saves are in "%userprofile%\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG". Perhaps if the save path can be configured to the base games path, then this version can support cloud saves as well? Or maybe there's more to it than that?

Hi, you can use the launch argument +set fs_savepath to change the save path. But keep in mind that BFA save files are not compatible with the original game, so that means that if you want to re-install the game and just use the vanilla executable, then all it's save files will either not work or just crash the game. Also, there is a question if they back up the whole folder as is, or if it's backing up specific folders and files.

In the end, the reason Doom BFA store it's save files on its own folder is in order to avoid conflict with the vanilla engine (or other source ports).

After renaming DoomBFA.exe to Doom3BFG.exe, and setting the fs_savepath, it seems that cloud saving works! However, I did notice an issue where the achievements stop working when setting fs_savepath, whereas they work without it (OpenPlatform is installed).

As for vanilla save interference that's no big deal, I'd rather always play this version anyways.

I uploaded a fix. Check the latest nightly builds, to see if the issue is fixed

Doesn't appear to be fixed. I'm testing this by picking up the first video log and seeing if the progress notification comes up like this:

And I found that when setting fs_savepath, the popup does not appear.

Also I know this is a separate issue, but i noticed that all doom 3 monitors show static noise and the original flashlight is bugged:

I've only observed this in the nightly build.

Have you try to delete the existing settings? The issues you mention seems to be usually caused by bad configuration and bad shader generation.

You can try to delete the save folder as a whole, or back up the save files and then delete it.

Hi, I've just tried starting a new save folder from scratch. I can confirm achievements did work! However, the flashlight and static monitor glitches are still present.

For the graphical glitches, did you also delete the renderprogs folder both in (game folder)/base and C:\Users(username)\Saved Games\ID Software\DOOM 3 BFG?

Hey, i gave that a try, and I believe i did it correctly but the glitches are still there. I assume this is something wrong on my end and for you everything works correctly.

Not a big deal however I'll just use an older version as a workaround for now. You can close this issue.
