I do not know if this should be done, as this is a curation BUT since the atomic desktop is growing fast, I think it can indeed be an idea to think about

About your examples, I think some other emojis could better represent their respective state

Also, some states can be removed :

• Since they will never show up
  • "❌ Discontinued" and "⚠️ Stalled", since such projects should be removed from this curation
  • "🟠 Alpha" also most probably, since I think waiting for a more mature state is a good curation practice
• Since they are overlapping
  • "🔵 Active" is a superset of "✅ Stable", "🟡 Beta", "🟠 Alpha" unless what you mean is "unstable"
  • "🔬 Dev/Reference" is a superset of "🟡 Beta", "🟠 Alpha"
• Since they are too detailed
  • "🟡 Beta" and "🟠 Alpha", since we will most probably not track it well enough for it not to be outdated, and it would be too high maintainance for my taste anyway. Maybe a superset "🔬 Experimental" or "🐣 Early" would better fit

So we would be left with :

• ✅ Stable: Production-ready, recommended for daily use
• 🔵 Active: Ongoing development, usable but evolving or maybe rename it to unstable, but the line is blurry compared to stable and experimental
• 🟡 Beta: Feature-complete, in final testing
• 🟠 Alpha: Early stage, breaking changes possible
• 🔬 Dev/Reference: Not for daily use; developer/QA tool
• 🔬 Experimental (or a similar emoji / name)
• ⚠️ Stalled: No meaningful updates in 12+ months
• ❌ Discontinued: Abandoned or merged into another project

Which is only two status badge, which questions their usefulness, but I'd argue it would still be potentially valuable

Maybe adding a "⭐ Recommended" badge would also be valuable, since some elements on this curation are clearly higher quality than the rest, even if the rest deserves to be kept
