If you find the available lists are missing species you want included, or include species you don't, you can create a custom list.
The best way to do this is to export the species that are on your Local Birds list, since this will most likely contain a reasonable approximation of the species you want:

Once you "Export the Included list" and save the file, you can amend it by removing species or adding new species. For these to be read correctly they should both
a) Be known to the model
b) added in the format
scientific name, common nameIf you want to have a list of all the species or classes known to the model you can repeat the export process, but this time select the "Everything" list.
Extended Custom Lists
List format extensions are introduced in Chirpity version 5.8.0 to allow Chirpity buy-me-a-coffee members to add optional rules for species to be included:
The format of an extended list is as follows:
In turn, these examples represent:
The list containing these four species with their rules applied will look like this:
Important
If you want to override the confidence without specifying a date range, the extra commas are required - as shown in example 3
Once you are happy with the contents of your list, you can save the file and use it as your custom list:
Click "Select file" and find the file you just saved.
That's it!
Custom Lists for Perch
For a few reasons, Perch does not offer a Local Birds list. 'Locals Birds' lists are generated by another machine learning model that was trained for the BirdNET species. Perch
a) has additional species
b) uses a different taxonomy
So it is not possible for the list model to identify all the relevant birds.
If you export a local list from the BirdNET model, you can use it for Perch, but there will most likely be warnings about unrecognised species. Any unrecognised species will not be included in results. You should edit the list to either remove these, or update their scientific names with the nearest equivalents used by Perch (for comparisons, you can export the full Perch species list by selecting the Perch model, and exporting the 'Everything' list). Augment your Perch custom list by adding any additional species you want to include from the full Perch list.
