Overview

Title(WIP): Dungeon of Despair

A deathmatch Quake level made for two to four players

Theme

Before even visualizing and designing the level setup, I’ve decided to come up with the theme first, as the level can develop around it. To do this, I researched textures, wads, and other public asset files to inspire me and that I may use for the level itself. The level is set in an underground dungeon within a dark ominous castle filled with fiery pits of lava and a sense of despair for those that enter. The level will feature multiple pathways throughout the map that are connected to another area or path to get the player moving to avoid anyone creeping up behind them. The paths will lead to open spaces that drive players into heated combat with an opposing player as there will be little means of cover. Players will have to be mindful of their movement, as there may be environmental hazards nearby, such as a lava pit, invoking the dangerous feel of the level’s theme. Special items of interest will be placed in or nearby these open spaces to incite players to take the risk of vulnerability.
