Description
Could I run an XTMax in a backplane as an 8086, I mean I know the software isn't up to that particular task, but would the hardware allow it?
I want to be able to use the XTMax as the "SoC" and run old ISA cards with it.
While emulating the 8086 would be a cool demo, my long term goal would be to use the device to actually test and play with old ISA hardware with a modern toolset/stack - like what kinda demos can I get to run on a hercules / CGA /EGA card with a modern 600MHz chip.
OR
Maybe a comprehensive testing tool that has nearly instant on times. For testing in greater depth the issues that can arise with old hardware. Since the device clocks the ISA bus itself, you could test the REAL speed of your ISA video memory chips, and try to upgrade them to get better doom FPS ;)
