The plugin is not installing on my laptop

I have downloaded cordova and created a project as suggested in the documentation.However when i try to install the plugin i get the following error:
Error: Failed to fetch plugin https://github.com/Moonware/cordova-cameraserver via registry.
Probably this is either a connection problem, or plugin spec is incorrect.
Check your connection and plugin name/version/URL.
Error: cmd: Command failed with exit code 1 Error output:
npm ERR! code ENOPACKAGEJSON
npm ERR! package.json Non-registry package missing package.json: git+https://github.com/Moonware/cordova-cameraserver.git.

Is there a issue with the plugin or am i doing something wrong
