movie_passthrough from netcam_url at the same time with v4l2 decvice for detection

Hi,
i got a v4l2 device /dev/video0 which delivers YU12 coded videostream, for a low cpu motion detection.
At the same time i got a rtsp source from the same camera, which is already h264 encoded.

It seems I cant config motion in that way, that it uses my /dev/video0 as camera stream for detection and my netcam_url for recording as movie_passthrough when it detects motion.

Any ideas?

I've not done it with a v4l2 device but I thought it should work.

What error did you see/get when specified your v4l2 device as the netcam_url and the rtsp source as the netcam_high_url ?

netcam parameters will here be ignored, based on my interpretation of the documentation, including movie_passthrough

And does netcam_url v4l2:///dev/video15 work by itself? As well as netcam_high_url rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/mystream being used by itself? Next, this looks like some sort of spoofing. Is the local stream of rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/mystream using the same physical device as /dev/video15 Using software other than Motion, can that software access both of these at the same time?

I get that video from a Mjpeg usb camera. I grab that stream with gstreamer decode it to YU12 duplicate it and send that part to loopbackdevice dev/video15. The other part is encoded to h264 and send to simple-rtsp-server, thats the rtsp "mystream" channel, because I also connect with a rtsp player for live viewing.

I could connect motion to netcam_url rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/mystream, that works also with passthrough, but I get a really high cpu rate, because motion has to decode back to YU12 for motion detection. On the other side movie creation uses nearly no cpu rate cause of passthrough.

On the other side if I connect motion to video_device /dev/video15, detection uses low cpu, but the movie creation is very laggy with lost frames. I guess motion has a problem to encode to h264, as far with movie_codec "mp4" and "mkv".

I try to use as much gstreamer processing as possible, cause my boards support hardware de/encoding of the streams, and as far as I can tell motion uses all software encoding.

I re-read your original post and see that it is the same camera. I doubt that it would work. Perhaps others may have ideas.
