I really like motion, it is a solid and sane tool. I really love its design.
I use it "on top of" go2rtc since it is very good at supporting all kind of hardware and types of streams.
I would like to do some detection (audio, video), setup masks and zones.
I have been reading about motion roadmap today (the motionplus initiative, the differences and now merge) and understand it is not there yet.
I am pretty new to video surveillance but I understand complex and fast moving detection is nowadays: can be done on the camera or server, then on the server you need to support either GPU, TPU, etc.
To be honest I am not sure this should be in the NVR software anymore, but rather managed by an external software.
Ideally I am looking for a solid detection software I could plug to my streams and that software would then send events to motion for consolidation and action (like start a recording or sending an alert)
So at the end I would have:
Feed acquisition: go2rtc
Motion & object detection: a standalone tool I am looking for
Orchestration, Recording, visualization: motion
So my questions are:
Is this way to do things make sense? do any of you guys do that?
Does a standalone and package tool specialized in detection even exist? (I couldn't find one yet)
