Manage my dotfiles on any host using chezmoi

Summary

I am currently managing the following application's configuration files. Chezmoi has been configured to only apply an applications configuration if it is installed. I am using the .chezmoiignore file to accomplish this. I do not use chezmoi to setup a particular machine to have the correct applications, but to just make sure that the configuration for a particular set of applications exists and is up to date.

emacs An extensible, customizable, free/libre text editor — and more.
git Git is a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency.
ghostty Ghostty is a fast, feature-rich, and cross-platform terminal emulator that uses platform-native UI and GPU acceleration.
neovim hyperextensible Vim-based text editor
ohmyzsh A delightful, open source, community-driven framework for managing your Zsh configuration.
powershell PowerShell is a cross-platform task automation solution made up of a command-line shell, a scripting language, and a configuration management framework. PowerShell runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS1.
ssh A program for logging into a remote machine and for executing commands on a remote machine.
starship The minimal, blazing-fast, and infinitely customizable prompt for any shell!
tmux A terminal multiplexer. It lets you switch easily between several programs in one terminal, detach them (they keep running in the background) and reattach them to a different terminal2.
vim A highly configurable text editor built to make creating and changing any kind of text very efficient.
wezterm a powerful cross-platform terminal emulator and multiplexer written by @wez and implemented in Rust.
zsh A shell designed for interactive use, although it is also a powerful scripting language. Many of the useful features of bash, ksh, and tcsh were incorporated into zsh; many original features were added.

  1. My PowerShell configuration files are written to be used by both PowerShell 7+ and Windows PowerShell 5+. If they are installed on a Windows machine, they will be symlinked to be used by Windows PowerShell. ↩

  2. My tmux configuration depends on the Tmux Plugin Manager I am using chezmoi's .chezmoiexternal file to make sure that the tpm github repository is cloned and available for use by the tmux configuration. ↩
