RESERVOIR COMPONENT OF HyMAP

Good Afternoon
I am trying to work on the reservoir component of HyMAP. While running the HyMAP with reservoirs here are some questions that I have come across and I am not able to correctly find a suitable explanation for them:

1. First of all the location of the reservoir that is given in the header file component of HyMAP input needs to be the starting point of the reservoir i.e. the dam of it can be a point anywhere between the reservoir.
2. How does HyMAP decide the spatail extent of the reservoir provided that the merit_hydro_DEM does not have information on the spatial extent for reservoirs and is only limited to the rivers?
3. The model requires spin-ups to get to a stable state. But let us consider a case in which out of 3 reservoirs, 2 were built in the 90's and the 3rd one was built in 20's. So how do I approach this problem? Do I do a spinup until the reservoir is built and then add the new reservoir after that?
   It would be great to have answers to these questions.
