Test with GFS v17 sflux files

Introduction

RTOFS (v2.5):

1. Is a downstream application of GFS v16.3.
2. It uses the following surface meteorological fields from GFS:
   TMP, SPFH, PRATE, {U,V}GRD, {SH, LH}FTL, {DL, UL, DS, US}WRF, TMP, PRES, LAND, PRMSL.

Once:

• GFS v17 is in production,
• If RTOFS v2.5 is still in production,

To do:

Due to ⬆️ 1. we must ensure that GFS v17 provided fields (above 2) provide same or similar quality of RTOFS output.

Part 1:

We are currently about half way through with the GFSv17 retrospectives and the realtime is up and running (note it might take it a day to catch up to realtime after the WCOSS2 prod switch).

Locations of the COM directories, archives, status of progress and details of any changes can be found on the spreadsheet here. There have been filename and COM directory changes and we have compiled a list of files we know have downstream dependencies and put the new and old structure in a spreadsheet here. If we unintentionally left something out or you are looking for a new file - don’t hesitate to reach out so that we can help you find the file.

Part 2:

We keep about 3 cycles of data available at any time. Closer to implementation, we'll be staging a large chunk of data but that will be a while.
