Hi WW3 community,
my department is currently working on a new WW3 setup for a region covering the Arctic and North-East Atlantic. The preferred setup is using ww3_multi and ice-wave interaction handled by switches IC5 and IS2. This setup requires that we are able to supply ice parameters C_{ice,1}..C_{ice,4} to ww3 via ww3_multi.nml. From an earlier Q&A post in this forum we understand that it is currently not possible to supply homogeneous inputs via the ww3_multi .nml but that it should be possible to supply forcing fields for the ice parameters via the MODEL_GRID_NML namelist e.g. MODEL(I)%FORCING%ICE_PARAM1. Section 2.4 in the manual also suggests that this should be possible. However, ww3_multi does not appear to read MODEL(I)%FORCING%ICE_PARAM1-4 from the namelist nor the ice1.gridX-ice4.gridX forcing fields when we attempt this modelling strategy. Has anyone experience with a similar ww3 setup and made it work? We are also happy to receive suggestions for alternative modelling strategies if the community is not actively working on enabling sea-ice parameters for ww3_multi.
Thanks in advance,
Mads B. Poulsen
