When the cmake unit tests run in the CI for Mac OS, we get some weird failures:

To Reproduce
run the unit tests on mac OS
Expected behavior
unit tests should pass
System Environment
mac OS 15 (arm64), with gcc-15, openmpi, and netcdf installed via homebrew
