Need a way to get coordinates from xgrid index

When flux exchange calculations fail for some reason, it is typically hard to determine what the problem is, partially because there is no way to figure out where on the globe the problem occurs. 

There needs to be a way (API) to determine --- given an index in xgrid arrays --- what grid cell this xgrid cell belongs to on the atmos, land, or ocean side.
