ORCIDs are not recorded consistently in the OCADS XML

  | It appears that SDIS is not consistent on how ORCIDs are recorded in the OCADS XML. I think SDIS needs to be updated to be more consistent, especially when a user supplies more PIDs than just an ORCID.

The examples I see of this appear to be from users uploading the Excel Submission Form spreadsheet that has 2 IDs entered into the one row provided for researcher ID. There is also a capitalization issue.

Are there other examples of inconsistent behavior?

Not really. Anyway, John has a recommended solution:
For example:
1: 0000-0001-9385-3827, 2: A-1522-2012
1: ORCID; 2: Researcher ID
I would suggest that SDIS and the OCADS XML specification needs to be changed, as follows:
0000-0001-9385-3827
A-1522-2012

BTW, John is recommending forcing users to use either ORCID or not. That way, we would only have one type of ID to worry about.

What about users that don't have an ORCID, but have a different ID type?

I do not understand what you mean by "changing the specification as follows". Two IDs on 2 lines is not a specification or any description of change.

I do not intend to force users to use only ORCIDs.

If a user enters multiple IDs in the MetadataEditor, the described XML is output.
If a user enters multiple IDs into the spreadsheet and uploads the spreadsheet, the behavior is not guaranteed.
