TODOs:
- implement the repo structure based on https://github.com/scientific-python/cookie.
- detach from https://github.com/ronpandolfi/pygix and make it a direct fork of https://github.com/tgdane/pygix.
- discuss moving the repo to the NSLS-II-SMI or NSLS-II GitHub org with the owner.
- take care of the active PRs/issues in the main repo.
