Netflix Conducter build fails

I am trying to build Netflix Conductor to perform an evaluation. I am targetting the docker build solution. Executing gradlew build from the project root, it gets about 70% of the way through... Then there are 3 errors:

Task :conductor-client:pmdTest
Error during type resolution of field 'new' in class com.netflix.conductor.common.metadata.tasks.TaskResult due to: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Lcom/google/protobuf/Any;

Then it goes a bit rather, and fails on Task :conductor-es6-persistence:test:
