Hide border feature?

I was hoping to have the option to hide the border of the world map. I thought this was an option before. Is there a way to do this?

I'm curious about this as well, as from my memory... we were able to fade-out all non-map content like oceans, etc... giving us a REALLY nice way to keep the Map open at all times.
