Column often 'gets stuck' half-way when switching content in multi-column layoutΒ #663

Description

@ByteAnnyTA

Hey there! 😊 I have a bug to report.

Summary

When using a multi-column layout, prompting a column to switch content – e. g. by clicking on a profile – often 'gets stuck' half way through the animation. This is not just a visual phenomenon; the functionality is also mismatched.

This can be fixed by 'poking' the window in some way – like resizing the window or bringing up the program menu – which seemingly resets the column dimensions again.

Reproduction

  1. Resize the Sengi window to encompass at least two full columns.
  2. Click on a profile picture to view the user's whole profile.
  3. Observe the column getting stuck half-way through the content switch movement.
  4. Resize the window to fix the issue.

Sometimes you need a few attempts for the bug to show up.

System Information

I assume that this bug is not something everyone experiences since it is so easy to trigger and would probably have been reported way earlier if so. So, here's some setup details in case it helps:

I am on an up-to-date Arch Linux system running a full KDE setup under Wayland.

Here's a video I took illustrating the issue:
