Thank you for providing this icon pack! It's a great resource for the community.

I noticed that you are currently using a custom license. Although your intentions are clear, custom licenses often create unintended hurdles for developers and the open-source community:

  • Terms like "Reselling this icon pack directly" are hard to define legally. It can create "fear, uncertainty, and doubt" (FUD) for developers who want to use your icons in commercial products or UI kits.
  • The "Not allowed" clauses make this license "Non-Free" by open-source standards. This prevents your icons from being included in many open-source projects (like those under GPL or CC-BY-SA) or redistributed in Linux distributions.
  • Standard licenses include a "Disclaimer of Warranty," which protects you from any legal liability if someone encounters issues while using your files.

Therefore, I highly suggest moving to the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Why CC BY 4.0?

  • It explicitly allows commercial use and modification.
  • It is a globally recognized legal framework.
  • Even though you previously mentioned "no attribution required," having your name attached can prevent others from claiming they created it.
  • The current "No-Resell" clause is legally unenforceable and breaks license compatibility. CC BY 4.0 is more effective because mandatory attribution prevents others from rebranding and reselling your work as their own.

How to implement it

Simply replace your current license text with the text from Creative Commons BY 4.0 and update your README to say: "This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License."

Standardizing your license will make it much safer and easier for professional developers to adopt your icon pack.

Thanks for your contribution to the community!
