It would be great to be able to discover recipes by 1:

• Having an interface to discover recipes by those on your contact list (which you have read access to)
• Having an interface to discover recipes made public by strangers

Going one step further, it may be interesting to have social components such as:

• The ability to star, like, and comment on other people's recipes

Hey, thanks for opening an issue!

Yeah, social features is something that people asked me in the past. Some day I'd like to implement them, but I want to spend some time thinking about the best way to do it. For example, I'm not totally convinced that using Solid's contact list is the best option. Maybe using ActivityPub accounts is better? (And I don't mean ActivityPods, real ActivityPub accounts that already exist, like Mastodon).

About discovering recipes, I'm hesitant about that because you can already find recipes anywhere on the web and import them to Umai. Also, recipes don't have a lot of useful metadata (such as "vegan", "keto", "dessert", etc.), so searching would be mostly by name which isn't great. There's also the challenge of finding recipes by strangers, since I can't get their webId from the user's Pod, I'd need to implement a centralized directory of some kind.

All that to say, I don't dislike those ideas, but they aren't trivial to implement. I'm not sure if or when I'll get around to implementing them... But I'll leave this issue around, in case someone wants to +1 the feature request, or add any additional comments/ideas.
