Description
Hello High Tide team!
First off, I want to give huge praise for this beautiful application. As a Linux user who loves the GNOME desktop environment, I have always dreamed of a native Tidal client that looks and feels like it belongs here—built with GTK and Libadwaita. You have made this visual dream a reality, and the integration is fantastic!
However, for High Tide to become a daily driver for power users, there are critical features missing compared to the official Windows native app or the Web player. I truly believe in your skills and, considering the technology and resources available to us today (approaching 2026, where almost anything is possible in software development), I know you can pull this off!
Here is what is needed to make this the ultimate Tidal app:
- 100% Feature Parity with Windows and Web (Main Goal) My wish is for High Tide to be a complete application, mirroring the official version perfectly.
All Functions: There should be no feature available on the Web player or Windows native app that is missing here. We need to be able to do absolutely everything within High Tide without ever needing to open a browser.
Playlist Management: Currently, this is too restricted. We need full capabilities to create, delete, and edit playlists directly in the app.
Uploads: We need the functionality to upload local tracks/files, just like on the official desktop app.
- Audiophile Features (Dolby Atmos & Max Quality Logic) As Tidal users, audio fidelity is our main priority.
Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio: It would be amazing to have support for these formats, specifically including visual indicators/badges so we can easily identify which tracks are Dolby Atmos or Spatial Audio enabled.
"Max Quality" Prioritization Logic: I have a feature request inspired by tools like the "Tidal Luna" plugin. It would be a game-changer if High Tide could include logic that checks the track being played: if the user selects a track that defaults to "Low" or "High" quality, but a "Max" (Master) version exists on Tidal's servers, the app should automatically prioritize and swap to the Max version. Ensuring we always get the highest bitrate available is why we use Tidal.
I have huge confidence in this project and the team behind it. Thank you for your hard work in bringing a premium, complete Tidal experience to the Linux community!
Keep up the great work!
