CAM output for CMIP7

I started building a workflow for producing CAM history namelist files from the CMIP7 data request spreadsheet.
Some of the missing fields are just due to question marks or comments. Several are due to cosp_amwg not being on in our simulations (it's not cheap, how do we plan to manage this?). A few fields do seem to be missing:

I think COSP need its own category built on top of increased aerosol output.

Around half of the variables listed above is COSP type, so may or may not have been taken over by CAM7 from CAM6.
SO4_N is a relic of the hardcoded aerosol variable categories --> Does not exist in Oslo-Aero anymore
I see Q in the output (n1850.ne16pg3_tn14.noresm3_0_beta09.Run4.2026-01-06) but it is a 3D field
I do see PBLH in the output files

• Q is in the list because of the question marks
• PBLH is in the list because of the M or X prefixes. I did not find variables in the code that computed these quantities.
• RHREFHT is also in the list because of the M or X prefixes.
• Whoever is updating the list, please update these quantities, including SO4_N.

I think COSP need its own category built on top of increased aerosol output.

I can make inclusion of the COSP variables optional. Does that sound reasonable? That way, the workflow can generate fincl statements that include COSP when needed.

COSP also includes addtional simulations similar to the aerocom will be calculated also without fincl? If the calculation / memory demands does not matter than I think the cosp variables can stay together with the additional aerosol output.

In the current spreadsheet, there are a number of frequency requests. Most seem standard (e.g., I assume mon is monthly) but I don't know about these two:

• subhr: Is this basically output every timestep for CAM?
• fx: Any idea what this is?

Also, do we have a standard order for history files? Right now, I have

• mon: h0
• day: h1
• 6hr: h2
• 3hr: h3
• 1hr: h4

Does this sound okay?

fx is possibly short for external forcing so constant fields And subhr will basically be timestep for CAM.

The following are the only options: “yr”, “mon”,
“day”, “6hr”, “3hr”, “subhr” (sampling frequency less than an hour),
“monClim” (climatological monthly mean) or “fx” (fixed, i.e., time-
independent).

From CMIP6 onwards also 1 hr was included.
