[BUG] icon rendering incorrectly when stored

Describe the bug

things are rendering wrong, seems to be related to storage items. when inside storage, an item gets that little blank background, and sometimes it seems that the icon for the item is updated to include that background in the icon itself. easy to see on trays. forcing the icon to update its icon fixes this, like putting it in and taking it out of storage
