Extra books in Kobo Library

I set up a new Kobo device, logged into my account and downloaded all my books. Then I switched to KOReader.
My Kobo library consists of 50 books, but when I sync with KOreader the plugin shows me 62 books.
What is odd is that I can open and read these 12 extra books, even though they are not in my Kobo library.
I have checked my account and they are not previews and they are not on my Kobo wishlist. I don't have Kobo plus, though I did try it briefly.

I have tried on a different Kobo device and the extra books don't show. Is it possible that the extra books were downloaded by a previous owner of the new device? I did reset the new device and also format the FAT32 partition.
