Only Office spreadsheet extremly slow copy paste large files

Expected Behavior

when working in large spreadsheets (+1.3Mb) containing formulas, copy and paste of selections gets increasingly slow. in a 1.3Mb sheet with only financial calculations, copy of a selection cat take 3 to 6 seconds.

created a dummy sheet with SUM() SUBTOTAL(), after it grew to 1,8MB, copy paste started getting slow.
This behaviour is in ALL editors. Online with nextcloud (using docker image), or using the latest local desktop app.

problem exists in versions 8.x to 9.3.1.10 (latest tested).

Actual Behavior

copy and past to be responsive in both desktop app and nextcloud online.

Reproduction Steps

Create spreadsheet with multiple sheets containing mixed data (text and numbers), insert formulas. (i used sum en subtotal, but other formulas seem to increase the delay more).
select a part, -> copy -> this can take a long time, depending on the selection size.

well the main issue is with a financial calculation sheet, I cannot share this here.
But I found some clues:
it's a sheet with nothing intereseting really, just a lot of numbers. The first sheet is interesting, as is uses a summary, and references the other sheets, formula's uses:
subtotal(9,sheetx!cell:cell)
ceiling(sheety!72,1000) etc
removing only this first sheet, makes OO behave again, which in parrt is strange, since it's a short summery with only thos formuals.

oo 9.4 app on linux -> cannot save edits, oo 9.4 on mac can, but only after a really long time. OO online -> crashes due to memory exhaustion on the server.

In firefox copy a single empty cell, triggers memory usage from 2GB -> 6GB, takes 3-6 seconds to complete.

the 2,5mb test file I created, doesn't match the exact behavior.
can I somehow extract all the formulas to find a clue there?

@TheBadAdmin, thanks for the detailed report. Since it reproduces in both the desktop app and the Nextcloud/Docker editor, we can rule out the integration and the browser — so it's the core editor (formula recalc / clipboard). A few things to narrow it down:

1. System — please run fastfetch and paste the output (OS, kernel, CPU, RAM in one go). For Docker, also docker images onlyoffice/documentserver plus any RAM/CPU limits in your compose file.

2. Repro file — a sanitized .xlsx that still reproduces it would help a lot. If not, just the formula pattern: which functions, roughly how many formula cells, and any volatile functions (NOW, OFFSET, INDIRECT) or cross-sheet references? Those force a full recalc on every copy and are the main suspect.

3. What it scales with — number of formulas vs. file size? And with selection size when copying?

4. Isolating it — does it happen on Copy → Paste values only, or only with formulas? Does the memory release after, or stay high? And does it reproduce in a brand-new blank file with the same formulas?

1. Ok, it doesn't matter what host it's on, amd ai7 350 64Gb to a k8s host with 512GB ram, 128 core, though the collabora pod is restricted, the crashing of that one is due to oomkill

2. I'll try to sanatize the xlsx, but there are a lot of numbers names etc in there.

3. the number of formulas in the sheet isn't really that high, or diverse. Mostly the ones mentioned. selecting an empt cell in any sheet, and do cop resuts in the delay.

4. only on copy, paste is quick.

Ok, it think it's a corrupt file, adding the word "test" to the sheet and saving it with libreoffice seems to fix the issue.
