Description

Suggestion for interview (please contact bret @ clementpeterson.com. Deb is based in Boulder, CO, and can interview morning her time, afternoon in Sweden):

Deb Goodkin is Executive Director at The FreeBSD Foundation, an organization she has worked for since 2005. The FreeBSD Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to encouraging the use of the FreeBSD operating system, protecting the intellectual property of the FreeBSD community, and funding development projects to enhance FreeBSD. Reporting to the Board of Directors, she has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion, and execution of the mission and vision.

Deb has decades of experience and has seen gender diversity grow in the open source community. She loves seeing how this diversity improves open source projects, strengthens communities, and ultimately accomplishes great results. She in particular loves the energy and diversity of young folks as they become involved in the community, meet others with similar interests, and learn from the many amazing role models in the open source community.

She earned an MSEE from the University of Santa Clara, and a BSCE from the University of California, San Diego.
