Hello, sorry for my extremely late reply.

Are you trying to clone BWP Sitemaps into the plugins folder and then update it via composer? FYI, the BWP Framework (based on which BWP Sitemaps is developed) is not at a stable stage so if you minimum-stability setting is "stable", you might not be able to update via composer.
