Idea: can the technology be used to reduce the size of large LLMs?

I always wondered if/when someone invented a way to take these monster LLM models and compress them into a few GB files.
In my imagination, the gap would have been like switching from bmp to jpeg images. This is SO CLOSE to that idea!
Do you think LLM models compression is achievable with memvid?
