OpenBB already positions itself as a financial data platform for AI agents. One pattern emerging in the agent economy: agents that need premium data endpoints are hitting the same friction - API key provisioning, billing portal signup, OAuth flows - all designed for humans.
The x402 protocol solves this at the HTTP level. An agent hits a premium endpoint, gets a 402 Payment Required response with payment details, pays automatically via crypto rails, and gets the data. No human in the loop for provisioning.

I maintain agentpay-mcp, an x402-native payment governance layer for MCP tools. Happy to discuss what integration could look like - even if it is just adding x402 response headers to OpenBB Platform API endpoints.
