HyperSpy's preferred data saving format is HSPY which is simply a special flavor of HDF5 file. If I change my file extension from HSPY to H5, I can directly read it with tomviz. So it would seem that simply adding the HSPY extension to the HDF5 file type filter will allow the data to be directly read.
I can provide a test .HSPY file if needed.
