Depth and shapefile?

Hi,

How can I set the depth of the particles when using a shapefile? I would like to randonly distribute the particles between 0 and 10 m within the shapefile area.

With a single polygon/shape, this should work:

from datetime import datetime
import numpy as np
from opendrift import test_data_folder
from opendrift.models.oceandrift import OceanDrift

o = OceanDrift()

number = 1000
z=-10*np.random.rand(number)
o.seed_from_shapefile(test_data_folder + 'shapefile_spawning_areas/Torsk.shp',
                      number=number, z=z, time=datetime.now())

But I added now this small fix for it to work also for the case with several polygons (as for the above example): 9ebd750

Note that you may also use the underlying method seed_from_geopandas for greater control if there are several polygons:
