Question About Inputs in ROSCO

Hello Dear NREL team,

I am new to OpenFAST and would appreciate your guidance if my question is not very precise.

I understand that in ROSCO, the rotor speed is obtained from ServoDyn. However, is it possible for ROSCO to accept rotor speed or other input parameters from external sources instead? and how?
It would be appreciated if you can explain and help me.

Can you clarify your question? ServoDyn will pass the generator speed known by OpenFAST (as calculated by ElastoDyn) to the controller. Why would you want to send ROSCO a generator speed that differs from the actual calculated value?

FYI: ROSCO uses as input generator speed, not rotor speed.

Thank you for your clarifying answer.
I had assumed that controller strategies typically use rotor speed. The reason for my question is that, in my Idea, the generator speed is calculated by another software.

ROSCO uses the industry standard Bladed DISCON controller interface, so, other software (separate from OpenFAST) that support such an interface can make use of ROSCO.

First of all, thank you for your help.
Unfortunatelly i am not familiar with standard Bladed DISCON controller interface.
I would like to calculate GenSpeed using Python or MATLAB. Is it possible to provide this calculated value to ROSCO instead of using GenSpeed from ServoDyn?
Should this be implemented in MATLAB Simulink, and would I also need to modify the ROSCO code to accept the new input?
Or I have to learn Bladed DISCON controller interface?

I would appreciate it if you could explain more or offer me some references or resources for more detail information.

I'm not really following what you want to do. Am I understanding correctly that you don't want to use OpenFAST or a different aero-elastic tool, but rather, you want to implement your own turbine model in MATLAB / Simulink, and interface this MATLAB / Simulink model to ROSCO?
