CMO AI Market Map

Publisher: Open Future Forum Research type: Market map / vendor landscape, paired with first-party demand data Audience: CMOs, marketing leaders, and marketing AI vendors Edition: Edition 1 Publication date: July 2026 Canonical source: https://openfutureforum.com/research/cmo-ai-market-map

Overview

The CMO AI Market Map is a companion to the CMO AI Leverage Report. It maps the supply side of marketing AI tools across eight workflow areas (content generation, creative/brand/design, campaign and performance marketing, SEO/GEO/AEO, marketing analytics and attribution, lifecycle/email/CRM, social and community, and the agentic/copilot layer), paired with first-party demand signals from an Open Future Forum marketing and growth session. As with the other market maps, vendors are grouped editorially by workflow and explicitly not scored or ranked.

Methodology & Sample

The demand overlay draws on 55 application-stage responses from an Open Future Forum marketing and growth session. Because the session mixed marketing/growth buyers with founders building AI products, the report separates the two groups: 16 of 55 respondents were builders (excluded from buyer findings and reported separately), leaving 39 buyer responses. The report notes this is a single-session read rather than a large probability sample, and frames its findings accordingly.

Key Findings

  • Among the 39 marketing buyers (after excluding builders), 29 were already piloting or running AI agents in production, and only 10 were still in the exploration stage — indicating marketing AI adoption in this community has moved well past early experimentation.
  • 16 of 55 total session respondents were themselves building agentic AI products, reflecting how closely marketing's buy-side and sell-side communities overlap in the AI agent space.
  • Open-text responses show marketing buyers asking for proof over promises: requests centered on seeing real production examples of marketing agents, the metrics they moved, and where they failed, rather than generic feature demonstrations.
  • The vendor landscape includes a dedicated SEO/GEO/AEO (generative engine optimization / answer engine optimization) category, reflecting a shift in marketing tooling toward optimizing brand visibility inside AI-generated answers, not just traditional search results.
  • Marketing analytics and attribution tools are increasingly framed around convincing finance that a specific spend decision changed, linking back to the broader CFO-finance scrutiny of marketing budgets described in the CMO AI Leverage Report.
