ds004856 only showing total folder size on OpenNeuro but not the sub folder and individual files

What went wrong?

The file tree normally look like BIDS formatted subject folders and derivatives folder, but last week we were emailed by someone trying to download the dataset that it looks like all the files are gone. The root folder still shows the total size of the dataset.
I checked the GitHub repo and looks like our data is still there. This may have coincide with when OpenNeuro was updated recently? We are not entirely sure.

Thanks for the report. I'm pretty sure the problem is slow validation. I've proposed a fix in #3672.

I just tried downloading the repo via openneuro on command line and the downloaded nifti files are softlink to annex files isntead of the actual files ../../../.git/annex/objects/27/M2/SHA256E-s34515165--2bb64d4f6992bba3c2d7581c29ab31ba7281bc1e8ff9cc444d9f8cd841944aeb.nii.gz/SHA256E-s34515165--2bb64d4f6992bba3c2d7581c29ab31ba7281bc1e8ff9cc444d9f8cd841944aeb.nii.gz

This also was not an issue before. Our dataset was last validated back in July when we updated the dataset to version 1.3.0. And it has been loading normally for the last few months until a week or so ago (at least that was when I got emailed about files not showing up)

The CLI generating symlinks is likely unrelated. Could you open a new issue for that?
