question about the smoothed biomass burning #355

Description

@cecilehannay

I downloaded the biomass burning datasets for use with CESM developed at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. I have a question regarding the smoothed emissions.

From the documentation (https://input4mips-cvs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/dataset-overviews/open-biomass-burning-emissions/), my understanding is that we should use the smoothed emissions you provided for CMIP7 runs in order to avoid the large interannual variability present in the non-smoothed dataset.

We found the smoothed dataset in DRES-CMIP-BB4CMIP7-1-0, but not in DRES-CMIP-BB4CMIP7-2-0. I therefore assume that we should use the smoothed emissions from version 7-1-0 and we should use emissions from version 7-2-0 for all the rest.

However, I am uncertain this is correct, since anyone downloading only the latest version would not find smoothed emissions available.

Could you clarify this? I apologize if the answer is obvious and we are overlooking something.
