Describe the Bug
I am trying to use a Logitech G27 on Steam Deck / Linux with PCSX2 for Gran Turismo 4 / GT4.
The wheel is detected correctly by the OS and by PCSX2:
Steering works
Throttle works
Brake works
Button inputs work
However, Force Feedback does not work at all in-game.
The wheel and FFB are confirmed working outside PCSX2:
ETS2 force feedback works
BeamNG force feedback works
Oversteer works
new-lg4ff is loaded correctly
So this does not appear to be a hardware issue or a Linux driver issue.
PCSX2 Configuration
Controllers configured in PCSX2 directly
USB Port 1 set to Wheel Device
Tested with:
Driving Force Pro
Driving Force Pro (rev11.02)
Force Feedback field can be set and currently shows SDL-0
Steering / throttle / brake are mapped correctly
Also tested different relevant wheel settings in PCSX2, including:
Steering Smoothing
Steering Deadzone
Steering Damping
Workaround for Intermittent FFB Loss
None of these restored FFB.
What Happens
Wheel input works normally.
No force feedback in GT4 / Spec II.
No resistance, no road feel, no centering force from the game.
The game is playable with wheel controls, but FFB is completely absent.
What I Already Verified
-
The wheel is physically fine.
-
Force feedback works in native PC games on the same Steam Deck setup.
-
new-lg4ff is loaded successfully.
Relevant kernel log output includes:
Force feedback support for Logitech Gaming Wheels (0.5.0)
-
Oversteer profiles apply correctly.
-
The problem occurs even when launching PCSX2 directly, so it does not seem to be caused by EmuDeck or Steam launch options.
Additional Notes
This is on Linux / Steam Deck, but because the wheel and FFB work correctly in other games, I suspect this may be a PCSX2 wheel/FFB issue rather than a general Linux wheel support problem.
The Force Feedback binding showing as SDL-0 may be relevant.
I also tested leaving FFB unbound / rebound and still did not get working FFB in-game.
I also testes turning “ignoring inversion” on and off and “workaround for intermittent FFB loss”, no success in different combinations.
Reproduction Steps
-
Connect Logitech G27 on Steam Deck / Linux.
-
Ensure wheel is working with Oversteer + new-lg4ff.
-
Open PCSX2.
-
Configure USB Port 1 as Wheel Device.
-
Select Driving Force Pro or Driving Force Pro (rev11.02).
-
Map steering, throttle, brake, and force feedback.
-
Launch Gran Turismo 4 / Spec II.
-
Observe that controls work, but FFB does not.
Expected Behavior
Gran Turismo 4 should provide force feedback to the Logitech G27 when configured as a supported wheel device.
Actual Behavior
Wheel input works, but there is no force feedback.
