Description

Myrlyn is a graphical software package and repositories manager for OpenSUSE. It is becoming a standard in OpenSUSE package managment and it's already shipped within a normal installation of Tumbleweed (also Leap, I think).

I would like an icon for it because the baldy AI made logo is both ugly and horrible on small sizes.

(Note: English is not my first language. I and my autocorrector might have commited issues.)

Oh my, that is ugly indeed!🥹 It doesn't look very Merlin-like to me either: more like Father Christmas mashed up with Gandalf.

Anyway, is there any single element in that un-Arthurian mess that you'd actually *want* to see in an icon for Myrlin, or should we try to make something new? Like you, I suspect there's too much detail in the original. If any other themes have a good icon for it, please point me at them.

We could use a generic Papirus icon for it, of course. That would work as a temporary solution. What about:

1. "system software installer"
2. "software store"

(For what it's worth, if the icon has to be a wizard or a Merlin figure, I'm partial to Nicol Williams's skullcap and staff from his role as Merlin in Excalibur (1981). A good look for a sorcerer, but you wouldn't necessarily want that guy installing your packages...)

I think a well made logo for myrlyn could be a gift with the merlin/excalibur/mage on top. I couldn´t find any themes that currently have the myrlyn logo in it, i think its because the tool is very new. But, the generic papirus icons are a very good alternative, too.
I searched a bit in the icon pack and i think the best alternative is the icon mx-packageinstaller, i also made an aproxiamation on what i imagine the icon like:
