Thank you for reaching out!
The evidence collector defines multiple frida hooks and includes friTap. We did this integration by importing all hooks into a single file. By now, friTap is a Git submodule, and we import the agent along with others as defined in agent.ts. At build time, we use frida-compile to produce one file containing all the frida hooks.
Do you think we can use the Python API of friTap directly to make its integration with our hooks lighter?

in my opinion, using the Python API for friTap would indeed make your integration lighter and more efficient. By using the Python API, you can leverage pip to ensure that you always have the latest version of friTap in your project. This approach simplifies dependency management and avoids the need to manage the integration manually.

Currently, the Python API ensures that friTap uses the following on_message function:
on_message Function in friTap.

In future releases, we plan to enhance friTap to allow you to provide your own custom on_message function. This will give you greater flexibility to tailor how messages are handled in your setup. I will leave a message when this feature is implemented :-)

At this stage, it’s hard to determine definitively which approach will work best for your specific requirements. If maintaining flexibility and staying up-to-date with friTap's latest capabilities are priorities for your project, I would recommend exploring the Python API option further.

I’m excited to share some great news! In the latest version of friTap (1.2.4.3), it is now possible to provide your own custom message handler. This enhancement gives you the flexibility to tailor the on_message function to better suit your specific project requirements.

Thanks for the update. We can't integrate friTap as a Python library (even retrieved with pip) because friTap is not packaged for Debian. We will continue with the submodule approach.
