Is your feature request related to a problem?

Currently, viewing real-time user activity requires creating a trend insight filtered to the last hour or using the web analytics real-time dashboard. While functional, this approach lacks visual appeal and doesn't provide an engaging way to monitor active users at a glance. The existing real-time dashboard is primarily tuned for web analytics, leaving mobile and other platform users without equivalent functionality.

Describe the solution you'd like

A dedicated real-time activity insight type with enhanced visualizations that works across all platforms (web, mobile, backend). Key features:

Core functionality:

• Visual gauge or animated representation showing current active user count
• Auto-refreshing display (similar to dashboard auto-refresh (https://posthog.com/docs/product-analytics/dashboards))
• Platform-agnostic support (not limited to web analytics)

Additional enhancements:

• Recent event activity feed showing what users are doing right now
• New user/session indicators
• Percentage breakdowns of current user activities

Use cases:

• Monitoring traffic spikes during launches or marketing campaigns
• Observing user behavior during live events
• Quick health checks of application activity
• Understanding real-time feature adoption
